About Me

I'm Edwin James Harris V, but go by James, a Biomedical Engineering student at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a passion for developing the next generation of medical technologies. My primary interests lie in microfluidics, organ/organoid-on-a-chip systems, nanoengineering, and advanced platforms for drug discovery, testing, and therapeutic development. I also have experience and interest in ultrasound imaging, specifically non-contact laser ultraound imaging.

I enjoy taking ideas from concept to reality, whether through personal projects, formal research, or industry. My experience spans electrical, mechanical, and biomedical engineering, allowing me to design complete systems, from embedded firmware and PCB design to cleanroom fabrication and experimental validation.

My technical experience includes cleanroom microfabrication, microfluidic device development, organoid culture systems, PCB design, embedded systems, laser-based instrumentation, rapid prototyping, and product development. I have software experience in Python, MATLAB, and C/C++, and I am familiar with design software such as KiCAD, COMSOL, SolidWorks and Fusion 360. I enjoy solving multidisciplinary problems that combine practical engineering with scientific research.

Outside the Lab

Outside of engineering, I call myself an outdoors enjoyer. I enjoy rock climbing, caving, scuba diving, hiking, and foraging new fruits and edible plants. I like working on cars, playing D&D with friends, working on cars, and playing iwht radios and Meshtastic. I love a good cup of tea, and I want to get as many certifications as I can.
